Stomata
cells (smaller than epidermal cells stoma consists of two similar cells called guard Each containing chloroplast and usually starch granules), parallel to one another and enclosing between them a
small lenticular or oval space called osteole.
The cell surrounding the stomata are different from the remaining epidermal cells and called subsidiary cells
:Types of stomata
1- Anomocytic:
the stomata is surrounded by cells resembling the other
epidermal cells varying in number having no special arrangement
2- Paracytic:
the stomata is surrounded by two subsidiary cells having their long axis parallel to the osteole
3- Diacytic:
the stomata is surrounded by two subsidiary cells having their long axis perpendicular to the osteole
4- Anisocytic:
the stomata is surrounded by three or four subsidiary cells, one of which is markedly smaller than the others
